Please support our 12th annual HEROES Program and Scholarship Campaign, that provides financial assistance to program participants of all ages. We need to raise $105,000 this year to continue to support the thousands of children and their families with vital wrap-around services and a sense of normalcy. Our Heroes Campaign was delayed by COVID-19 an we need to have all these funds raised by September 30th at the absolutely latest, in order to start meeting the need in October.
The Salvation Army is known for Doing the Most Good to help those in need. With COVID-19, the need is greater than ever. Many families have lost their jobs, been furloughed, gotten sick, and struggled to care for and feed their families. Since COVID-19 started, The Salvation Army Kroc Center has served 7,389 people in San Diego with food boxes, produce, masks, diapers and hygiene. Over 17,638 meals were given to hungry children during this time. The Kroc Center also provided Critical Care Workers with no cost childcare.
This year, due to COVID-19 we were unable to open our doors and run a successful fundraiser for scholarships. Our center focused on Emergency Disaster Services during our usual HEROES campaign and we desperately need funds in order for future members of our community to get scholarships for programs.
Thank you for your support in these efforts and know that we will continue to provide these emergency services. Now that we have re-opened our doors your community desperately needs your continued support to provide scholarships to those-in-need. Children’s social and emotional well-being has been severely affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The coming school year will be radically different, leaving parents desperate to find care and activities for their children. We partner with the schools and are prepared to step up to provide vital wrap-around services for youth and their families.

The Salvation Army Ray and Joan Kroc Corps Community Center is a 12.4-acre family support, education, recreation, and cultural arts center, made possible by a generous gift by the late philanthropist Mrs. Joan Kroc. The facility is open to members and the general public and serves residents of East San Diego, La Mesa and Lemon Grove with a variety of quality programs for individuals of all ages. The Kroc Center is a place to gather and connect. A place to discover. A place that nurtures and inspires. A place that captures the imagination. And that's just the beginning.
